About the Speaker

Carsten Marr is Professor for Artificial Intelligence in Cell Therapy and Hematology at LMU Munich and the Director of the Institute of AI for Health at Helmholtz Munich.

His lab combines AI and knowledge of biomedical systems to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of severe blood disorders. His team integrates big data with mechanistic models of blood cell production to identify potential drug targets.

His research has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Eugen Münch Prize for Innovative Healthcare (2024), ERC Grants (2019, 2023), and the Erwin-Schrödinger Prize (2017). In 2024, Carsten also served as a Visiting Professor at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
