About the Speaker

Georg Langs is Professor of Machine Learning in Medical Imaging at the Medical University of Vienna, leading the Computational Image Analysis and Radiology Lab (CIR) and the Comprehensive Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (CAIM). He studied Mathematics at Vienna University of Technology and earned a PhD in Computer Vision from Vienna University of Technology and Graz University of Technology in 2007. He was a post-doctoral associate at Ecole Centrale de Paris and INRIA-Saclay (2007–2008), a Research Scientist at MIT’s CSAIL (2009–2011), and joined the Medical University of Vienna faculty in 2011. He has taught Computer Vision and Medical Imaging at Ecole Centrale de Paris and Vienna University of Technology and reviews for multiple conferences and journals, including IEEE TPAMI and IEEE TMI.

His research interests include machine learning in medical imaging, computational neuroscience, bridging imaging phenotypes with underlying biological mechanisms, and developing approaches to learn from large-scale, heterogeneous clinical data.
